The fine old knifes are coming out - nice carries gents! Just home from a baseball coaches meeting and a trip to Advance Auto to buy some fine grade sandpaper (to clean up a knife blade, what else?!) I decided it was a good day for a pocket size lockback - Buck 501 Esquire today. OH

Is it safe to assume you found the sandpaper you need?

I did Jerry, thanks! I sorta had sticker shock at what sandpaper goes for now-a-days; I've got enough of what I normally use in my shed that I haven't bought any in years. $8.00 for five sheets of 320, 400, 800, 1000! OH

Now if you get some 1500 and 2500 you'll be all set. Which, by the way, you can get at WalMart.

•Includes 1 sheet each of 1000 grit, 1500 grit and 2500 grit and 2 sheets of 2000 grit
•Five 3-2/3" x 9" sheets
$3.84

1976 Queen Mountain Man w/ a slightly short blade, and a traded-for Zwilling Henckel stockman, in stag- my favorite pattern, as long as it's close to or more than the magic 4".

You're a man after my own heart! 4 1/4 inch plus knives are just about perfect.

Speaking of perfect length, heard all my life length matters, longer is better, believed it too. But it isn't length, it's girth my friends. Just got the Northfield #25 LITTLE Jack, had a Tidioute #26 LITTLE Carver for years. Thought they would be almost too small at 3 inch. Wrong. Look at them here with a Case Mini Copperhead and Swayback. The Northfield and Tidioute are noticably shorter but they feel like a bigger knife in the hand because of girth, width, shape. Both so short they feel like noting in the pocket and fit in the jeans coin pocket with room to spare. Shorter and wider feels bigger, even when it's not. Words to live by.
