What an odd combination. Maybe it's for working in a greenhouse where they break alot of windows. I can't imagine what a glazier would use a hawkbill blade for. ___DaveMiller Bro`s wrote:Thanks Lee & Lyle![]()
Here is an unusual one, even has a glass cutter at the end!

Dave, you got it right a gardeners all purpose knife.
I grin
Thanks for the compliments guys and the link John, I have that catalog ad somewhere around here.

Lyle, do you think I would post the knife in the pruning/horticultural thread if it was a glaziers knife?wlf wrote:I have a relative that is a glazier, albeit not the right time period,he might have an idea.

My one & only pruning knife. Not an antique or even all that vintage, but it is mint. Made in Seki, Japan, by Melitta Tak, it has imitation ivory scales w/red spacer and the AUS-8 steel is super scary sharp.

Hi MB. This is your Amgar knife in a 1930s Wostenholm brochure. Nice and rare knife.

Added this Ulster Knife Co NY capped end pruner this week, pretty decent shape for its age.

Couple of beauties S-K.
Picked up this Wostenholm, its slimmer than what I'm used to with a brass end cap.

Re: Old Pruning and Horticultural Knives
Thanks for showing the very old Stanfield Steve.Amazing number of makers in collecting Sheffield knives, too many to keep up. Beautiful shape for age. Still finding them with the Humphrey.
Now that's a peach pruner John, D has got you on the pruner trail.I grin. Looks practically unused.

Re: Old Pruning and Horticultural Knives
Thanks everyone. Lyle you are right, D loves the pruners and Farmers Jacks, must be the landscaping background.
Knife ie in very nice condition for its age, other than some poor sharpening scratches it is close to unused.

WOW SK, lovely stag on those. The Stanfield is a stunner.
Great ones John, I really like the stag on the Wostenholm.
Here is one of similar vintage as the Stansfield, albeit assuredly less fancy. Waterville Mfg. Waterbury (1847-1855).
