Counterfeit Remington

This is not an originial, nor is it an authorized reproduction. Kudos to the seller for not trying to pass this off as authentic. There are several of these on the knife market. This knife would not fool an experienced collector, but to the novice it could . Be careful when buying any vintage knife, there are those out there who will take advantage of whomever they can.

Remington Collector,

Is the frame of this knife legitimate?
Now, the Delrin part...since it wasn't invented/patented until 1956....Hmmmmm?? Maybe cobbled from parts, or just a fantasy knife?
Do you have an opinion about what it might be?

I do not think the frame is authentic. I believe the whole thing has been fabricated. I have saw other counterfeit 4283's that look almost exactly as this one does. The pattern number has been cold stamped, and if you zoom the pics, it looks like the handles have been jigged after they were pinned. Some of the pin heads have jigging on the edges that correspond with the jigging on the handle. I heard of a guy that took one of these and stained the blades and roughed up the bolsters a bit and traded it off as an orginial. This is not the first one of these that has appeared on E-bay, and not doubt will not be the last.

I wondered about the stamping.
I should have zoomed the picture that shows the jigging, before I asked my questions

...great call!. It does appear that way.
Since I know very, very little about Remingtons...is the configuration of blades unusual (Master in the middle) enough to call foul?...or was that what a real R4283 was like? I see the "book value ($$$)" as it were...no wonder the less than truthful are trying to fabricate one.

I realize this is off topic but;

Can anybody tell me Why does eBay allows one funny item, when another funny item is banned?
It does not make sense to me.

If I had the wrench here (it's that good), I would Bet on the inside you will find a Chinese Made quartz movement and the phrase
"NOT ONE JEWEL" etched inside.

BTW:There was a bunch of these floating around, even had the sweep second hand.
I heard the guy passing them off is now in The Big House.
