As far as I know Imperial began marking knives "stainless" in 1965. Not sure how long they continued using that particular stamp. By the way, nice knife, Scott. I really like the handles. Very cool! ::tu::

My best Guess is 1920-1940. Tip bolsters and cell scales. Just my opinion for what it's worth.
Love it. ::drool:: ::drool:: ::drool::

I think the knife has the late 20's tang stamp with Stainless added.
Look at the third post down by Dale ( Orvet )

I have a knife with the 1946-56 tang stamp with stainless added

Know nothing really, about Imperial or any of their tang stamps, but the knife looks earlier than 1965.

I'd ballpark it 1930's to 1950's.

Thanks fellas..... ::handshake::

I'm gaining a theory here.
The word stainless is not really the topic, rather the way the word IMPERIAL is presented.
I've IMPERIAL with the little crown over the 2nd "i" which obviously dates it to 1956 - 1988.
(In this thread - viewtopic.php?f=35&t=12153&start=15 )

So with that in mind I'm leaning towards late 20's because there is no mention of the city, state, or USA.

Just a theory of course......

Your theory is about right in my books.
What we need is a few different tang stamps with stainless to be 100% sure.

Very nice looking knife, regardless of it's age. Hope it sharpens

well and has a great snap. Carry it!
