It's ebony. It looked shiny like horn when I took that pic.
I roughed it up today with some steel wool and sandpaper to bring out the wood grain and make it not so shiny!!

I don't seem to have a pocket on me save for the one in my T-Shirt. Got some sharp stuff near to hand including a Queen Paul Revere lock back about the same size as an LB7 but thinner with a nice thin slicing blade!

WOW what a nice trapper dcgm4!!!! Is that a full size trapper or a mini trapper?
Love the swedge on those blades. I have a case mini trapper with a clip & wharncliffe blade. I really like it, but your Johnson blows it right out of the water.

Thanks, Steve. The trapper's a full size. It's 3 5/8" closed and both blades are just shy of 3".

This gorgeous piece of refined cutlery has spent a great deal of time in my rfp.

A Cattaraugus cattle knife I picked up at the Parker Show. 3 3/4 inch closed.
Re-handled and sold by a man named Ken Tolle. He had several knives he had worked at the show.
I was very hard-pressed to pick just one !
