Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

John nice Daddy Barlow. Did Case cut the groove in the handle, or was it in the bone when they started?
I have a small XX Barlow with the groove, I like it. Again your 10 dot is really nice.

John is that what they call a worm groove in the handle of your Grand Daddy Barlow? I have a mini trapper that has a groove like that and was told it was a worm groove. It's a sweet looking knife for any age but for a ten dot it is amazing ::tu::

Thanks everyone. I think the groove is the marrow channel, it is the inside of the bone.

Great looking knives. Whats the story on that groove. I've seen it on some Barlow's but never on a Trapper.

I guess you're asking about this trapper, it where a vein was in the bone. I wish it were Second Cut.

Would this be the same type of groove on my 73 mini trapper?

Cool looking knife, love the way the blade lays so low when closed. Like how the spine and handle seem parallel. Love the point and that bullet end bolster, and the single flute. Whatever TBose did on that one is working.

Nice looking Teardrop you've got there, ~Q~. I didn't know that knife was available with a Wharncliffe blade. I had only seen Spear blade versions until now. Nice score!

This little 63090 came in the mail Friday. I sold a knife just like this about a month ago and I missed it immediately. Had to get another one.

Strange thing but the bone has turned brown in places since I've gotten the knife. Between the shield and bolster on the mark side and near the left bolster on the pile side. It wasn't like that when I got it. Anybody know what might have caused that?

I lubricated the joints with some Quick Release but I've never had the bone discolor like this before. Not sure if that's what caused it or not.

I like the 090 pattern. Disappears in the pocket.
No idea about the bone change though ::shrug::
