Whale brand fixed blade

Post by leggo »

Anyone know about this company... Whale brand ? The only markings on this knife says ..Whale Madein Germany. A picture of a whale is on it too. It is about the quality of a toy, hollow handles are tin and it's a total of 3 pieces plus 2 pins incase the pictures don't show it clearly. The paint appears to be air brushed.I paid $2.00 for it. ::facepalm::

Richartz, Solingen Germany used the whale stamp. I'd guess yours was made by them. From your description of the construction, sounds just like a "Fisherman's Friend" knife I have which has the whale stamp on it also.

Their knives are mainly shell handle knives I believe.
There was also a Richartz factory in Sheffield that was purchased by Imperial in 1977.
Probably a decent quality knife but not the centerpiece of a high end collection. ::shrug::
