Remington R8004

Hi folks. I just rec'd this pearl R8004 from an ebay seller. I like the knife and it is in very good condition. Is there a way to remove or soften the "spider webs" that are on the main blade? The blade has orig. shine and I do not want to scratch it. The spider is on the etched side (of course). The etch is "Remington, Master Blade" Thanx and GO SOX!

Nice knife. The main thing to remember when trying to remove spider webs is to be careful. I'd rather have a blade with an etch and spider marks than a cleaned blade with no etch. What I normally do is take my roto tool with a very small buffing wheel and just a tiny dab of Flitz or Semi chrome. Lightly touch the mark with the buffing wheel and most of the time the marks can be lightened or completly removed. Just don't touch the etch with the buffing wheel or it will be removed too.

If I can add to this...

I place a pice of clear Scotch Tape over the etching first.

IMO, remove what you can with a gentle cleaning (no power tools) and leave as much of the 'original shine' as possible. Just my 2p s-k

I agree with smiling knife no power tools IMO With even flitz you are going to see the buff marks with power tools.You will have to buff the whole blade if you buff to long in one spot.
