1972 Boker Tree Brand Knife

My mother-in-law just inherited a pocket knife from her father. It's dated 1972. It's a Tree Brand with black handles with 2 round gold emblems in handle and gold etching on blade. Does any body know what it is or what it may be worth. I'll try to get pic and post it soon as I can.

sounds like the 1972 boker wiss commemorative. 3 1/2" three blade? $11.95 sell price in 1972. voyles says $50 +-. need a pic to be sure

daddystrawboss. I have a 1973 Boker - Wiss Commemorative large stockman knife. Seems very similar to your description although my knife does not have a gold etch. WISS (J. Wiss & Sons) was a New Jersey based company that owned the rights to Boker USA during this time (1969-1984).

Hello fella's, The 1971 and 1973 Bokers that I have like these, doesn't have any gold on the blades. The 1972 also has the gold doubled shields, right? Now why would they(Boker) have silver doubled shields on the 1971?

I read some were that the RED and BLACK shields tell the type of steel of the blades on the newer ones. Perhaps they did that back then too..

That's an interesting theory Ken and well worth further investigation

. I didn't think of that. You are correct... for example on the recent Henckels knives made by Boker, black shields for stainless blades and red shields for carbon blades.
