While searching for info on a knife query posted today, I came across this auction for a collection of different corporate die stamps on Ebay.

They were asking $11, 500.00 for these items.

Scroll down, as the little slide show of the different dies is fascinating, especially from our standpoint.

How many do you recognize?

Yes, the Terre Haute Barber Supply Co. stamp was the one that brought me to the auction.

Looks like a good many of them have to do with barber supplies, specifically strops, so I guess these were used to mark old leather razor strops or other leather products.

I particularly liked the "Jack Strop" stamp, because if you read it and include the picture, it becomes, I suppose, "Jack-Ass Strop", but maybe that's just me.

... and that listing being ended by the seller due to an error in the listing.

Maybe he meant to reduce the price from 11,500 to 8500 and just hit one too many zeros.

Still way over priced.
