I Need a Bullet knife Repaired

Post by avgfan »

I'm new to this forum. My name is Brent Payne. I've been a knife enthusiast and mild collector all my life. Here's my problem ~

After a very long search, I finally found a 1994 Remington Limited Edition "Camp" Silver Bullet knife, model R4243SB. I've wanted one for years. I bought it out of state while on a trip. Now, about three months later, I've found that the leather punch is wobbly in the folded position.

I discovered this because after opening both the punch and main blade, then folding them back, the main blade was very hard to open and was rubbing against the punch. Up until then, I'd never had both blades open at the same time. Closer inspection showed that when both had been opened and closed, the main blade could often end up on the other side of the punch than it was supposed to be. I checked both blades for movement and discovered that the punch had enough play to move from one side of the main blade to the other - BUT is solid when in the opened position. How could that be? All other blades are solid.

I can't return the knife and I've wanted one of these for a long time. Plus, it was expensive. Does anyone know someone that can repair this knife? It was made by Camillus and of course, they're long gone.

Oops, the main blade has a tiny bit of wobble when opened.

Help!

::welcome:: to AAPK Brent!

There are several members of the forum who do knife repairs. Jeff (agteacher2), Kaleb (Muskrat Man) and I all customize knives. Kaleb & I do repairs & I think Jeff does as well. I am sure there are several other members who do repairs also.

You might see who responds to your thread & see who can get to it before too long. I am at bare minimum, six months out, before I could even start on it. Kaleb's turn around pretty fast, (I think) so if time is is a consideration you might send a PM to Muskrat Man.
You might PM Jeff (agteacher2) and see when he could get to it as well.

Stick around & enjoy the forum.
Welcome aboard,

You might check out some of the AAPK Member Stores. Just under the banner at the top of each page, the silver tool bar. 'Buy/Sell' and go to member's stores. Muskrat Man has done some work for me, and I can say he's top shelf.
