knife pins

If you've noticed on ebay there are several people selling these knife making pins. If you email them for details they have no idea what you're talking about including the actual size of the shaft. I suspect all of these pins are actually in a warehouse somewhere and maybe even at SMKW? I just bought some of these and feel it is a great bargain if you have need for them. They are the .081 pins that are about 11/16" long and there were about 250 in the bag I bought. Most of the others selling these want this much for S&H. I ordered some of the other sizes and will update this when they get here. These are the Schrade S260.

Bob, are they brass or nickle silver?

Yes they are n/s and have a head on one end. I also think they are .080 and not .081. They work great on smaller knives.

OK thanks, the picture looked like they were nickle but the description states they are brass pins

There are 3-4 people selling these pins. All using the same pics and the exact same description. I emailed them and asked them what size they were and if they were actually brass and they have no idea. That's why I think they don't have the pins in their possession.

It sounds like you and I have found the same pin supplier Bob. The S260 works great for most pin replacements and while the next size up is thicker, it doesn't seem to be any longer. If you want to try a few of those before you order any, let me know and I'll send a bunch to you.

Thanks Bob but I just got 250 of the pins and that will do me a while. I am looking for the n/s .080 pins that look like a nail with a pointed end on one end and blunt on the other for old Bill down in KY. If anyone has a surplus of those pins and wants to unload some let me know. So far as I can see none of the current sellers offer them. Maybe Dale would know but are there standard stock numbers for the Schrade pins? Might help me find what I'm looking for.

I have bought a number of different pins from ecop! but they really don't seem to know the first thing about knife repair. When I asked for the pin dia in thousands of an inch they saved they couldn't do that! So I have bought some from them sort of hit-or-miss, hoping I get ones I can use.

I think I may have some of the .080"-.081" nail end pins. Those are the ones W/O a head on the end, correct?

I am looking for some of the 1/8" pins that work in the LB7 knives. They have a tapered head on one end and are flat on the other. The pivot pins are brass or n/s and the rocker pins are n/s or ss.
I just ordered some from ecop! That may be correct, but have corrective them yet. I repair a lot of the 5 inch Schrade lock backs and not having to make the pins is a huge time saver.

Do either of you know where I can find some .090" & .078" n/s pins? Also .082" brass rocker pins would be nice if they are available, but those are pretty easy to make with a spinner, I usually make them myself.

I've had the same experience Dale. I asked them if the pins were brass or n/s and they couldn't answer. That is why I think these pins are in a warehouse somewhere. One thing that might work is to go to the ecop web site and get the customer service #. Call them and tell them you need a specific size pin and ask them if you can speak to their supplier and inquire of them and if they do have the pins you will order them through ecop. They had mentioned to me that if I called they would give me that information. I know a few years back there was a lot more variety of the pin sizes available. Maybe some sizes have sold out?

The .080 pins you describe are exactly what I'm looking for but he is wanting a couple of bags. Do you have that many? I don't have any of the size pins you are looking for.

No I don't, though I do have some .080" X 5/8" with a head on the one end and flat on the other.
They were labeled S7.
If he is interested, give him my email or phone number. I would rather trade pins than sell them. They seem to come in 2 prices, dirt cheap or really expensive. Unfortunately I have plenty that fall into the later category.

Been tired of turning down larger pins, these work on most
knives that require a slightly smaller pin.
