I personally looked at this knife from the guy that listed it on e-bay at our local knife show in 2013 or last year IIRC. The knife is legit as far as I am concerned and it was a pleasure to be able to examine one in hand.

Dimitri, that is amazing that you actually got to handle a legitimate Charter Oak knife. Do you know if the guy ever did sell it, and if so what he got for it?

Sorry, forgot to comment on the new knives posted. Dimitri, Longblade and Lyle, great old rare knives. Really like that ebony hunter and the dirk. Very nice clear stamp of the farmer's jack.

Great knives all, this is a wonderful holiday thread. Dimitri, I have never before seen any pictures of the 1876 display that you posted. That is wonderful. I would love to see the whole thing!!!

Thanks, I would like to see them all too. The picture I posted of the display card,the catalog cover and page were taken from the internet. The catalog sold several years ago on e-bay. Everything else I posted I own.

He did not sell it at the knife show as far as I know, there were several hard core "New England" knife collectors there that would have loved to have taken it home but when I asked him he wanted 10K for it! I told him I seen it on e-bay, he did not seem to care if it sold or not, he may still have it for all I know

As promised my few other Holley knives -

Holley Cigar Pen - 3 & 7/16" Ebony

Holley Swell End Jack - 3 & 5/8" Ebony - unfortunately stamp on this is legible on master blade and not so much on pen blade

Holley Crown Pen - 3" Ivory (with a broken blade but for $5 who cares ... smaller pen blade snapped just at mid-point of nail nick at some point long ago... (As an aside - I usually don't buy knives with broken blades but at that price with one full blade who would walk away from it - not me (My other broken blade knife is a Waterville - again with one snapped blade and that cost me $1....)

Looks better with blades closed... well a blade and a half

Thanks Dimitri... and that utility knife with that sheepsfoot blade is classic ... I like sheepsfoot blades......

As I was looking at the bottom photo of the knife display from your first post - the jacks that are 9 or so in from the left have the same exact oval bar shield as the one I posted... similar scales and frame as well but mine is a barehead... personally I still question the pen blade on mine without a clear stamp (master blade has a very light but legible old Holley stamp for sure...)... the pen fits well but sits abit low when closed and the pivot pin is not exactly flush with the bolster on the mark side though it is on the pile side.... .... no doubt someone cleaned it in the past and perhaps abit too aggressively but I jumped on it given Holleys are few and far between especially in jack knife patterns...

Interesting Charlie... I'm sure you noticed your last pic is the same buildings as in Dimitri's photo... the building to the left looks like it was renovated as to siding in Dimitri's photo compared to the siding in your photo and the large chimney is not in the other photo either... any dates to your photo? I wonder what if anything is left of these buildings... I may have to take a drive over that way and see what I can find ....

I do not have dates on the photos.

They have been posted to AAPK before, but not by me.

Every time I see an old cutlery company photo, I copy it and place in my Cutlery Company Factories photo file.

I do believe there are some significant differences in dates between the photos.

Here's a Holley jack I got awhile back. Great knife.
I've got one like Lee's but I'll have to take new pictures of it.
I was up to Lakeville a couple of years ago and took some pictures of the building there and signs indicating the old manufacturer. Also took pictures at Collinsville of the old Collins buildings.
I thought I put them on the forum but wouldn't know where. In knife lore, ..... I think. Maybe.
