Re: Old Knives with Rare Tang Stamps
Thank you everyone, appreciate the comments and information.
Here is another one I picked up this week, a very nice Electric Cutlery Co easy open jack, pretty nice condition considering 1920 or before, this one also has very nice bone.

Re: Old Knives with Rare Tang Stamps
If that knife was just on Ebay, I was very tempted to put in a bid.
I had it on my watch list.
Very nice.

Thank you Lyle, Donna and I are having some fun collecting these old knives, it is a challenge finding ones in decent condition as you know.
This one showed up yesterday, from what I can find the tang stamp only used 1935 to 1940.

Re: Old Knives with Rare Tang Stamps
I believe this is a rare one.
Krakauer,Zork & Moye's Suc.'s ElPaso Texas Goins says Soc's,but stamps seem to say Suc.'s. c 1895-1914
I'm pretty certain it is a Challenge made knife.
Interesting side note. They were etched "Krack-A-Jack",which is where Bob Roark and Charlie Dorton got their etch for the cotton sampler GEC SFOed them.Bob told me Charlie found it and they used it.

That is yet another beauty for sure Lyle!
You mention that you think it was made by Challenge - based on a Challenge Farmers Jack that looks similar or ?? Just curious.... is it the jigging pattern or something along those lines?

Nice one, Lyle.
You are living proof that the movie Field of Dreams could be reality.
"If You Build It, They Will Come"
You built that farmer's jack collection and now they just keep coming, don't they?
Here's a K, Z & M letterhead.
Currently listed on Ebay, but it's an expensive piece of paper.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/El-Paso-TX-1916 ... 1047017914
I think that is "SUCS, Inc."
And there is an apostrophe in "Moye's", indicating possession.
So, what exactly does "SUCS" mean?
Possibly, "Successors".

Re: Old Knives with Rare Tang Stamps
Thanks Tommy.
Lee,all comes into play when IDing,as you know in other knives, but the most noticeable differences in farmers jacks are in the frame and especially the small bolsters. I'll get some comparative scans Lord willing.
Thanks for the eBay letterhead Charlie.
Charlie, I asked Roger Russell about showing my knives,as I was hesitant. He advised me to and said exactly what you alluded to. Friends like you have led me to a great part of my collection.
And you were right,it is exactly Successors and it was made prior to 1920. As evidenced by this post in 1920 "Hardware Review":
