That rig looks about perfect for woods hunting. Looks pretty light. How's she shoot?
It has not been fired yet. I'm going to test fire it this weekend. I don't expect any problems but for safety sake, I fire all my builds via a 10' string the first 3 shots.

Ken, you build some cool, old school, rifles - nice! Show us a target once you get a load worked up. OH

I have to show off my latest. Been looking for a Remington Model 12 C with the straight grip for a couple of years with some condition. Was able to trade into this one last night at a local shop. It is 100 years old this year, original, no extra holes, missing the barrel sight but has the Lyman tang sight, wood in very good condition. Bore is 8/10. Pictures aren't great and I missed the back end. It has the rifle butt (crescent style). Action is butter smooth after getting out years of accumulated crud. Haven't fired it yet but will take care of that tomorrow.

Thanks OH. I had a chance to take it to the range yesterday to see how she shoots. Well, I found out this is a single shot until I can find out why the fired cartridge won't extract. Not a new problem for old rimfires. It works fine running them through without firing. I suspect dry firing has peened the chamber mouth some where the firing pin strikes the rim. ::td::

After the point of impact was discovered and the tang sight stem moved to where it needed to be, it shot very well, one at a time. ::tu::

Its all part of the fun ::groove::

After taking apart the bolt and digging the mud out the the extractor cut and then a little judicious filing off of a burr at the chamber mouth then a little polishing of the chamber has solved this issue. It IS a repeater. ::ds::

Thanks, guys! I can't recall the last time I was so anxious to get a pistol.
Our open carry law goes into effect on 1-1-16, and I think this will be perfect for that.

Nice Ray - it's a Sig and a 1911 style 45 acp - best of both worlds! OH

Very nice Mr. Ray! I got an early Christmas .45acp too. Santa sure was generous this year on both sides of the country!

I'm sure you're gonna like yours.

Very nice!

Looks a lot like a Para-Ordnance WartHog.

I'll bet you could find some extended capacity magazines for that. They come with a composite collar that effectively extends the length of the grip to accommodate the longer magazine.

It makes the weapon a little easier to hold, too.

Yes sir! Mine is a Springfield XDs. I worried a bit about such a small gun in 45, but it's a real soft shooter. I bet yours is too. Just be sure to cover those ears good. These short barreled 45's sure are loud.

Yours is sure a looker!

I thought these were a neat concept but was skeptical of them, enough to prevent me from purchasing one (had a bad run of new production guns lately). Well this one was handed over as an early Christmas present. I flat out LOVE this thing ::ds::

It had a few hang ups initially. Read on the net to load the mags and leave them loaded for a week or two to break the springs in. Hasn't hung up since in over 500 rounds. Need t oget a couple more mags for it I only have 4
