Mystery Manufacturer "Terri?? Cutlery Rochester N.Y.&qu

I have just started collecting pocket knives in the past year and stumbled upon this great web site. I am hoping that someone can help me identify a particular manufacturer of an old, probably 1930's, bone handled, knife. The stamp is partially obscured however I can decipher what looks to be "Terri?? Cutlery Rochester N.Y." The right top of the "T" extends above the name and the last two or possibly three letters are not clear. My best guess was "Terrier" however I can find no info on such a company. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hi David. Warm to the site. Sounds like it could be Terrier Cut Co. I found this information in Goins' book. Terrier was in business for a short time 1910-1916. The knives were made by Robseon Cutlery. We love to see pics of old knives here so please post some if possible. These old names often reappear in many incarnations so a pic or two would help with the specifc id of your knife. s-k

NOt sure, but I beleive that all of them should have a dog on the tang stamp too, Galvanic1882 is VERY up that company.

OK David, Here is my chime. They were made by Robeson Cutlery and were a lesser brand for them. Sargents books on Robeson have a bunch of info on the company and another good book would be Knives Can Talk by Tom Kalcevic. It is a book about Robeson knives and has info on Terrier. An avid Robeson Collector named Charlie Noyes has a Robeson website that shows Terrier's also. I have a few in my collection of New York State made knives and have attached a few pictures. They are rarer than Robeson's at this time.

On another note I have written an article for Knife World on Nagle Re-Blades and hope to have pictures taken this week to go with the article. Nagle's are another hard to find brand.
