Thanks Unk. I had never heard that one before. I like it.

Doesn't have the same ring to it, Jerry.

Being from Texas, I guess I will have to settle for being buried in that hard-ass caliche in the Texas hill country (the most beautiful part of Texas, BTW).

What rhymes with caliche?

No, it doesn't have the same ring to it Unk but it's from the heart.

Here's couple of my favorites from a local guy, Max Stalling. Max is typical of a Texas singer/songwriter. His songs often mix traditional country with a Flaminco style guitar flavor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53295iYXaOk. Around here he'll play at your wedding, backyard barbecue or barn party, in addition to a lot of regional clubs. All that will probably be coming to an end as he seems to be getting some national attention now. He's got a sense of humor too. http://youtu.be/93j9-4vtJpA

Let's see if I can get this to work.

I found a local bluegrass radio station WAMU right before the Christmas music started on WASH FM. Yes, a local radio station is playing Christmas music already. Ho Ho Ho

*Edit- believe it or not, you helped me learn how to post this vid, Jerry!

This is one of my favorite Jr. Sisk tunes. This one really defines the term "High Lonesome Sound"

Sometimes when out working on the ranch my mind starts wandering, no telling where it will go. Today I started thinking about humorous country song lyrics. I can't remember who wrote most of these but here's some that came to mind: ::facepalm::

"My wife ran off with my best friend, and I miss him."

"I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."

"How can I miss you if you won't go away?"

"The only ring I ever gave her was the one she scrubbed out of the tub."

"How come my dog don't bark when you come around?"

"It's not love, but it's not bad."

And my all time favorite - "The devil made me do it the first time, the second time I done it on my own."

What are some of your favorites?

Heard this Robert Earl Keen classic on radio today, reminded me to share it here. Not sure if anyone has posted it here before, but it's that time of year. Merry Christmas everybody!
