I missed out on one of these

Over the weekend I ran across an old case knife the guy wanted $55 I offered $50 The condition was almost as good as this one with the exception the one I am going to get if it's still available the blades are tarnished and needs a good cleaning.Here's a pic of one from eb@y it is the same model
Sometimes you just can't win I would have been better off just giving the guy his asking price..I like to barter but I figured if i started to walk away he would have taken the $50 but no luck Maybe this weekend..

I don't know what feeling is worse...losing a knife deal because you didn't offer enough, or getting one you paid too much for, and suffering buyers remorse. Well look at it this way, you still have your fifty bucks and you'll get the next one!

I picked up the pictured knife on ebay this week but I haven't received it yet. Supposedly it's a 1982 "Texas Jack" pattern 6292 in CV in excellent condition (unused but a little tarnish according to the seller), and with what appear to be honey brown bone handles. For some reason I won it for under $30.

Not too long prior to that though I paid $60 for a 1998 Chestnut bone CV in the same pattern. I definitely got a little ahead of myself on that one. I guess when all is said and done I about break even, huh? If I'd paid the same prices but swapped the knives, I'd feel it was about right.

Hi Newcase, The knife you have pictured appears to be a Case Eisenhower or an 06263 pattern, very hard to find in tested era or earlier. If you find the older Case stuff at a reasonable price try not to haggle to much over price, it's usually gone when you come back.

Well I missed out on the pattern #63 but I did find a close cousin today. In condition as found Appears it's a pattern #27 from the 1930's

Hi newcase, Nice pen knife you have there. Shame the previous one got away. I like collecting pen knives myself. I bid on a few older Case pen knives but so far haven't been able to bag one. I do have a 1950-64 Case XX stainless 053. I suppose it is 82053 but there is not enough room. s-k

It was a lucky find but I probably over paid these older ones are hard to find. On auctions they usually sell for more that I am willing to pay.

Hi Newcase,
I believe you now have pictured a 33 pattern. The diamond shaped shield was used from about circa 1914-1925, which would put your knife somewhere in the early twenties since the tested era began around 1920 and the shield was disconinued around 1925. Nice knife--Can you tell us what the handle material is ? Looks too black for tested era green bone. Could be just the picture though!

It is a very bad pic I just used a halogen desk light which it's hard to take good pic under those conditions Anyway it's a greenbone This is not a good pic but it shows the color of the green bone handles
