Finaly Back In The Shop!

Post by #goldpan »

Its been a while since I did any sort of involved knife work. Came down with a virus over the summer that has left me vertigo on and off ::uc:: And more recent I was found to have spinal stenosis of the neck. ::shrug:: Its making my left arm weak and hand as well. Seeing a neck surgeon on Friday. Anyway, I picked up an old shell handled German made knife some time ago that I tagged for a remake. Made similar to am Imperial I stripped it down and kept the blades and springs. The handle material is black paper micarta that I gave a random pattern jigging to. The liners and bolsters are integral one piece aluminum. Closed its 3 3/8 inches long. A little over a 1/2 inch wide. Has great half stops and snaps like a gator! Being light weight it rides very well in the pocket. Progress was very slow as I have to be careful around power tools and sharp objects :shock: What do guys think?

Looks good Randy! ::tu:: ::tu::

Keep us informed about your health issues so we can keep you in our prayers.
I can certainly sympathize, I just got out of the hospital today. I was in the hospital last month for 12 days to get a new knee. Wednesday this week I ended up back in the hospital with a intestinal blockage. Only 4 days in the hospital but it seemed like longer!
I am missing the shop and hope to start working again this coming week. ::nod::

Good to have you back in the saddle, Randy!

I like what you did with that knife, more impressive to me that you did the jigging yourself. I'd probably do my own if there weren't already so much good stuff out there, saves me time ya know.

Keep up the good work!

Dale, Scott, Glenn and Bob. Thanks guys! Glad you like it and thanks for the well wishes ::tu:: And Dale take care my friend, I'm glad your out of the hospital. I hope your recovery from the knee replacement is fast and complete! I hope to work on some more knives as I am at home on temporary disability and trying not to go batty! I cant imagine how painful having an intestinal blockage is. My prayers are with you.
