Joe,

It was made in Japan in the 1950-60`s. It looks better than it really is, a cheaply made knife.

I thought the shields were interesting so I bought it ::nod:: The shields are plastic just like the handle but they were inlet very well. The knife is 3 3/8" long closed.

I know this one has already been posted on this thread (by JerryD, but on a different knife); however, since it's such a unique "meta" shield, I just couldn't resist.

Here's the one and only knife I ever bought for the shield. It's an old utica that is plumb wore out. But I wanted the shield!

It's a Jim Dandy shield. Jim Dandy was one of, if not the, largest maker of horse collars in the US. I grew up with Belgian horses and mules. Pa had 21 mares, a stud, and a mammoth Jack at one time. I remember him still mowing hay and plowing tobacco with the mules.

So now I have this shield on a wore out knife. I'm thinking I ought to get hold of a knife mechanic here and see about getting some mod work done using this shield.

I guess these have not been posted here yet.
I had been wanting some shields that were in the shape of the state of Oregon since the outline of Oregon is my logo. A big thanks to Ken (paladin51) for doing the leg work on the shields. ::tu::

Here's a unique shield on an interesting knife with fancy bolsters.

Beautiful blade designs on this one too.

I have not been able to make it out, seems like a modern knife say 1950's?? Maybe. People I have shown it to have been all over the place with guesses.

You don't see too many shields on kitchen knives which is why I spent a whole 25 cents to buy this Frederick Herder grapefruit knife.
