Looking for help with knife collection

My dad passed away December 2013 and left what I consider to be a fairly large knife collection consisting of fixed, folding, advertising, razors, flatware, swords, and many, many handles and parts. I live in Central Texas and know that he was a member of the Waco Knife club for many years. I have no idea how to place a value on this collection or to locate possible buyers.
Can anyone recommend an honest, reliable dealer in my area or are there any forum members that could assist me?

I'm not a dealer and I'm far from Waco, but hopefully someone will come along shortly.

Several members here, including myself, would I guess be classified as dealers and do buy collections.

I do know that Paladin is from Texas and I would personally consider him very reliable.

I'll echo what Charlie has posted. Ray Roe aka "Paladin" here on AAPK is a knife dealer and he's an honest man. He buys and resells knife collections. If I were you he'd be my go to guy.

#3 for Ray. He lives in the Austin area. A word about selling to a dealer. They are making an investment on future profits so don't expect to be offered street value for your knives. The flip side is you don't have to go through the hassle of researching the value of each individual knife and the slow tedious process of selling on eBay or at a knife show. Please consider keeping a few in memory of your dad. Later in life, you'll be happy you did.

With that being said, Tom (Olderdogs1 here on AAPK) is a stand up knife buyer/seller as well. Either one would be a great person to deal with IMO.

Since he was a club member and collector did he leave any written or computer records of what he had? Original boxes or packaging adds value. Many collect catalogs or paper items like company letters.

I will echo to keep a few knives from your Dad. Possibly select the ones that have some use

but are still in great shape. I collect knives now. I have 2 from when my dad when he was in the

US Army and fished as a sport.
