Scott, around here there are several public service announcements from the US Forest Service running on the radio with the plea - "take your kids to the woods". I was thinking my buddy Scott is way ahead of you in that! Looks like another great time out with your grandsons. OH

I wanted to show you folks my new UTV. Just picked it up last Saturday.

I think it's going to be very handy here on the farm and perhaps during deer season as well.

The tires are not even dirty yet! That does look like a fun vehicle. I bet the dogs learn to leap into the back real soon.

Mel, I agree with you on almost everything but I don't think the "coyote" that FRJ pointed is going to be able to leap in the back of Phil's new ride, looks a little like some of us ol' boys that are a little bit over weight

Thanks guys. Phil I agree, the fat yellow dog will never make it into that buggy. She's ground bound. The German Shepherd has already learned to jump up into the bed, but then he wants to climb up into the front.

Put some more,corn out today around my ground blinds (they are eating about 80lbs, ever 8/9 days now***) --put some cob corn out today,to try and slow em' down a little ?? __ hope they will eat for a few more weeks till gun season opens

when the acorns start dropping, they'll wade through 50lbs. of corn to get to the acorns !!!!!

____ some pictures of my ""shooting lanes"" & ""ground blinds/tents"" it's 80/87 steps to the end of each lane, so no really long shots**_________just waiting on Oct.11 now ::pace::

God Monk I wish our wood had loooong shooting lanes like that ,were lucky to get off a 50yard shot our wood are that thick

Promised to let my grandsons shoot the Daisy BB Gun (paid $2.00 at a yard sale along with a box of bb's for $1.00 at another sale). We finally did last night.

They loved it. The oldest hit the can with his first shot, blew a hole in it the size of a nickel! The younger one had to get a little closer as the gun was a little large for him, but the was determined to hit something besides the trees in the swamp!

I tried to correct these pics, but they won't sit "normal." Jerry......HELP!

Runnin' a little behind on my readin'

Big Monk, y'all appear to be ready for deer season to get cranked off! That ground blind looks good but not for me just yet. I may have to go to ground blinds in the future but it'll be after a lot of kickin' and screamin'! I love to hunt from an elevated stand! Miss Joy says, "You're too old to be climbing into those shooting houses!" I told her, "I gave up the climbing stands a few years back but I ain't givin' up the ladder stands and shootin' houses! Look, I've got a new knee, a new hip and a freshly 'scoped knee, I ought to be able to sit up there with the crows and watch 'em walk by!"

We're still turnin' dirt for the fall planting, wont plant till early October, way too hot for Rye, oats and clover to survive here unless the weather really breaks. Planted Rye Oct. 15th last year in the only plot I was able to plant. Had deer grazing it by Thanksgiving Day.

Scott, you're doin' it right ol' Pal! We started our children with a BB gun and made it just as serious as if it was a .22. Safety, safety, safety!!! They all soon graduated to .22s, the girls still shot but not with the interest of our son. He killed his 1st deer with a .243 when he was 9, made Daddy proud!

Livin' in the country, all this comes easy. So I salute you Scott for going the extra mile with your Grandsons, keep 'em goin' to the woods, shooting the BB gun and diggin' up fat lighter stumps

It's always great to anticipate the upcoming season!

I'm teaching them the same 2 rules my dad taught me:
1). Never, ever point a gun at someone else
2). Always, always act as if the gun is loaded, even if you know it isn't!
