Thanks to the Muskrat Man
Just want to give a big thanks to Kaleb for doing such a fine job rehandling my knife with elephant ivory scales. He did an excellent job, and was even able to replace the shield. What a talented individual who stands by his work.

Wow that is a beauty!!! Was this handled with stag before the ivory Jim? I have one in stag and ivory but it was bought that way, I am amazed at MM once again..
Was the ivory hard to work with Kaleb, I've heard folks talking about how brittle it can be at times...? Is there a difference between elephant ivory and the wart hog ivory you worked with on another knife?

Ralph, actually the warthog was more brittle, the elephant was softer and less prone to chipping/breaking, very easy to work with, as easy if not easier than bone.

Knife
Ralph, This was actually handled in bone previously. When I told Northwoods I wanted it, I thought I was getting an Ivory knife. But the price was about two thirds less of what the ivory handled knives would have sold for which should have been my first clue. Kaleb brought it to my attention that it was in fact bone. When I checked my invoice, that's what it said also. Still, I am absolutely head over heels about this knife.

My guess is that there is still a layer of dentin over the ivory on the wathog. I can see that layer on my hippo tusks, harder to see on my warthog tusks. Just a shot in the dark.muskrat man wrote:Ralph, actually the warthog was more brittle, the elephant was softer and less prone to chipping/breaking, very easy to work with, as easy if not easier than bone.

Mr. Kaleb, looks like an appropriate place to thank you for the fine work on revitalizing this ole Kent Jack knife. At least the blades were full, right?
I'm not sure we made it from sow's ear to silk purse, but I'd say you at least made it SuEdE ! Which considering the limited appropriation$ for this project is close enough to silk for me. I appreciate you taking on this Kent Caper, your excellant communications and quick turnaround. I hope we have an opportunity to salvage another one. Maybe we will be able to do Flying Tiger teeth backsprings!

I'm glad I could be of service, it was a fun project. I liked the figure in the ironwood on that one.

Thanks one & all. The Kredit of course belongs to Kent, Kaleb, and whomever didn't destroy it beyond repair before I got it. I was fortunate just to be the facilitator that brought Kaleb & the Kent together.
Kaleb, both sides are loverly but I have to favor the pile side. Some color definitely helped instead of going back with ebony.
I figured from the estimated age, an early WWll backdrop be appropriate. Plus it was closest thing I could grab
That did get me thinking on which would be possible or the greater challenge-shark teeth backsprings or air cooled machine gun barrel style backsprings?
And Fran, the only cure I found for WantOneitis is GET one!
It is an honor and a privilege to have an MM-07 edition in my
temporary custody. Dun good MM!

I had this pen made by Hartkopf & Co in Solingen that needed
some refurbishing. Kaleb was kind enough to take on the assignment.
Thanks for the fine workmanship & top notch customer service to go with it.
Desert ironwood was my final choice & Kaleb didn't try very hard to convince me otherwise. Case Bros knife pouch came in handy too.
