Where have all the Case Classic Collectors Gone ?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Where have all the Case Classic Collectors Gone ?

Post by deanmm56 »

Folks scrolling down to all the different forums I find myself wanting to know & see more about the Classics. I'm a big fan whether they were made at Case, Queens or somewhere else.

To keep this forum alive and well I think I'll post pictures of one knife each week until I've gone through all of the patterns.

Maybe someone else would like to post pics of the same pattern I have posted ....... then we can compare and admire.

So, today I'll start with the 5100 ......... Stag Saddlehorn ..... enjoy and feel free to post comments.

Joe,

While I've used several planes in my day the one you are referring to sits in my living room ...... just a remembrance of quality time with my Dad in the work shop.

1980 Case Whaler, lightning SS, Sperm Whale blade etch, bail, wood scales, SS sheep foot. 4 1/8 closed, 7 1/4 open, rock solid lock up, good shape for the hand, great steel, looks a hundred years old style and still kicking. Great knives, have a couple, wish they still made these. Great blade, tip not a needle and impossible to stab yourself. Great knife.

Newbie here, that is one gorgeous stag Case. I like everything about it. Love to have one.

I'm a long time Case enthusiast and collector. I will be posting my first, favorite, and best case this week. It's a Case USA series 5232 Stag Jack. It's the knife that turned me into a Case lover, and pocket knife fan in general. It's very special to me. I would never trade or sale her. It will be handed down in the family hopefully for generations.

I can't wait to share it with my new knife Buddies here. ::handshake::

Well here it is. This is my crown jewel in my humble Case collection. It is hands down my favorite. It is #1 in the eleven mint Case knives I consider my collection. My 5232 here is not new, although I've had it since is was mint and new, going back to 1965. It is however in very good, almost new condition. This beauty was my EDC for many years. It was in my pocket when I met my wife.

I hope to have some better shots later, I sort of took these in a rush.

The shadows showing in the shot of the back springs and bolster, are trees outside the window.

I would like to share a couple of more things about this one, but I will save it for later.

I could talk about this bad boy until the cows come home.

Thanks for allowing me to be very honest about how much I like this knife. I apologize for being overboard, just a tad. ::dang::

Thanks Gentlemen, you're the Best IMVHO! ::ds::

That's a real beauty Harold. Your 5232 is definitely one sweet knife. Back when it was made it was the ultimate EDC for many collectors I knew (stag included) and it's still one of the more popular patterns to talk about and admire on the Case Collector's Club Forum. It brought back a lot of memories about the good folks I know and knew who have carried that same knife. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Big E, that means a lot coming from you as a member of this incredible forum, AAPK. I've been into the hobby for a lot of years, but the members here really know knives, and the hobby. I feel like a novice at times, but I'm pickled tink to be here. ::tu::  I will be sharing my knives here, and what I've learned about our hobby with my new knife buddies. ::handshake:: I've lost a few of my favorites over the years, the yellow peanut I mentioned on a previous post, but the one that blows my mind, was a ten dot series, beautiful red bone, Congress. It was brand new, and mint. It was one of my favorites, and the only Congress ever in my collection. It just disappeared, I get a little sick when it pops back in my mind. ::uc:: Thanks again Big E, nice chatting with you. ::handshake::
