A Friend showed me his Dad's old knife today.........

Post by knife7knut »

A bunch of us,"chronologically challenged" guys get together every other Wednesday for breakfast and talk cars and whatever. We like to call it the,"Geezer Gathering".
Anyway one of my good friends brought in a knife this morning to show me.Sadly I didn't have my camera with me to photograph it. It was a Case Tested C61050 SAB in pretty darned good condition. Not mint(some pitting on the blade but very little sharpening and a small crack at the pivot rivet on the pile side)and the logo was worn away a bit and looked like someone had tightened it up a bit over the years. It was found in his tackle box after his dad had passed away. His brother got all the lures(apparently some valuable ones) and Mike got the knife.
Anyway he asked me if I thought it was worth anything and was a bit shocked when I told him that in the shape it is in it was probably worth between three and four hundred dollars. I hope I gave him an accurate price. Although I would love to have it(I don't have one of that model) I know the sentimental value is there and that it will be cared for.
So my question is: Do you think I high-balled the value or not? I know it is near impossible to accurately give value without pictures but go out on a limb for me please. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT:I forgot to say that it is green bone.

Ray, based on your description I'd say you're in the ballpark. Might even bring more from the right buyer.

Ray,
I wish you had pictures as the condition makes all the difference. I also trust that you know this, and I bet you are 'right in there' as far as value. ::tu:: ::tu::
