I found this small brass "knife" at the flea market. The "blade" has two parallel grooves or channels. The blade is just a rectangular cross-section piece of brass with the grooves machined into it; there is no real blade. It's easier to see if you click on the photo and blow it up. When you fold the blade into the handle it stays in place by friction.
The only thing that occurred to me was a gizmo for smokers to carry extra lighter flints, from the era when smoking was popular.
