Garddogg, that American Knife is a real looker. Beautiful scales.
I find 5 possible Mfgs in Goins. 3 in Connecticut, 1 in Florida and one in Newark, NJ.
Also 1 in Germany and 1 in Japan. Yours looks U.S.A. to me.
What a good looking knife. Ya never know what your gonna find.

American Knife Co. operated in Winsted from 1919 to 1948.

How do you know it was made in Winsted?

Got a few things at the flea market yesterday. Couple of pretty good old knives, an old Remington display case (board not original), a new Queen lockback whittler (price was right. Besides its a whittler!) and an old whetstone (needs cleaning) on a homemade folk art type base. Didn't get the sign (they wanted a small fortune for it) but thought y'all might get a laugh out of it so took a picture for your enjoyment.

Here's a few I scored at the flea market a couple weeks ago.

fm2015-1.JPG

Yes, that is the price of that Ulster whittler... I couldn't get my money out fast enough, and didn't bother to dicker. An excellent knife, the blades appear mostly unused, and there is still an etch visible on the main.

Glenn, great deal on the Ulster.
The stuff I run into down here I wouldn't stir paint with.
