PRIMBLE WITH TANGS GROUND OFF
Hey everyone....picked this Primble 5371 up pretty cheap...but the weird thing is the Tangs have the name ground off, only thing that remains is the 5371.
Doesn't look like a Factory second.....why would they grind the name off?

Re: PRIMBLE WITH TANGS GROUND OFF
More than likely a factory second. Sometimes the flaw isn't readily apparent. I have seen some that have a small portion of the back spring that didn't finish grind and was likely the cause of rejection.I have a Camillus that doesn't even have the rivets finished and bad back springs.Don't know how that one escaped. I once bought a ton of Western knives and parts that were factory rejects(too deep a grind;offset grind;casting flaws, etc.)figuring I might be able to make a couple of knives from them.Had about a half dozen W-49 bowie blanks that looked like they could be rescued.Still have a small suitcase filled with the parts somewhere.

It's possible for all kind of screw ups to have slipped through then....I guess quality control had a bad day
Nice solid Knife overall.

I have a green/yellow Remington (Camillus) muskrat (9503 or similar number) where the backspring area is totally unfinished. Raw edges on the brass spacers, nothing even. Rest of knife is well finished. Knife function is great so I made it a user. Guess it got through QC somehow.
