QUEEN ABALONE

Hey all....have this posted elsewhere in a group I picked up.
Just wondering if the Abalone is real?
Nice looking Knife but not really my "cup of tea"....

Looks real in pics and I doubt that Queen would etch the blade if it wasn't real. Its a good looking knife

Take the knife and rub the handle on the bottom of your tooth if it is abrasive it is real, if is smooth it is plastic. Note if you have false teeth this test does not work

Most likely real but I had a modern Case one time that was supposed to be real MOP and was really plastic.

I hope it is real, but to me it looks plastic. Almost too colorful and detailed to be real abalone.
Sorry, just my opinion..... I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah I rubbed it against my teeth and it seems smooth....
I say it's Plastic.....no matter...still looks cool!

It appears to be genuine abalone(or paua shell).Most abalone I have seen is sliced very thin;I wonder if there is a clear plastic bonded to the abalone to make up the thickness for the scales?If you look closely(preferably with a loupe)at the liner edge of the scale you might be able to see a part line.Abalone would be a hard substance to fake.

It's real abalone. Queen has never used a plastic abalone material.

If you look at Queen catalogs from about 2004 to 2010, you will find the posted knife pictured exactly, part of a small line of genuine abalone handled knives that Queen offered along with their genuine mother of pearl handled knives. I forget which years these abalone patterns were offered, but it was only for a couple of years, and they were quite pricey knives.
