New project for me

Post by agteacher2 »

I picked up a hand full of files yesterday and decided to try my hand at file work. Tell me what you think.

I can't decide what kind of handles to put on this one. I ordered 3 sets of buffalo horn and I have bids in on 48 sets of exotic hard woods. Any suggestions?

I vote buffalo horn. I think blackish colored handles would make the filed springs / liners stand out more. ::tu:: JMO

Here is another knife I did today. It's amazing what a laser engraver can do in the hands of a knife addict.

If you havent noticed I experiment on the Rough Riders. If they turn out bad I just experiment on them some more. Maybe Case won't sue me for "borrowing" their idea of the zebra stripes. They don't hold the copy right to the zebra do they?

Here is the finished product. Buffalo Handles worked out nicely. Great stuff to work with. Burned up my old buffer but I needed a new one anyway.

Beware! I got 4 Case trappers in the mail today 2-SS and 2-CV.

Thanks S-K,
I have bid on a few pairs but others seem to like them more than I do.

Thank You also SFC ADP,

A good engraver is 15, to 20.K I have seen a little China made job for 1K but I don't know about the quality.

Thanks Again for the encouragement.

Those cheap yellow handles bothered me all night, so they are history.
I just happened to have a nice elk antler in my shop. Here is the result.

Very Nice Jeff.

I like the antler material better myself.

Although I must say that the yellow looked pretty good. It's been my experience to go with the wife on most decisions that involve style, so the change was risky, but I think you did the right thing.

Heck... who am I kidding... It's usually wise to do what the wife says with pretty much everything   :|
