Zipper

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Hate that I miss the Tar Hill Show today because a Case Tested 5172 Zipper ( like shown ) sold for $10K today. Couldn't afford it, but would have love to seen it

Holy smokes Larry, that is a whole lotta money! Could you perhaps educate me on just what exactly is a Case Zipper? I am not familiar....

Mike. The Zipper was a Case Tested XX ( 1920 to 1940 ) Bulldog but was made as a Switchblade. Very, Very Rare.

Now that's a deep pockets collector! Very rare knife too. There's a picture of one in Sargents 7th edition, page 203. Sargents lists its value at $10,000 so I guess that's verified now! Thanks for posting the picture of it. Wish I could have seen it too.

Ken and Mike, the story of the knife is a guy found it under a back seat of a car that was in a junk yard, then sold it for $100 to another guy that knew what it was.

A seasoned collector, trader friend of mine, he is 80, told me he knew a guy that said he had one that was mint. He didn't believe him so told the guy he would pay him $100.00 just to see it. The guy said ok so he went to look at it and sure enough it was the real deal and mint. He paid him the $100.00. Guarantee that the story is true and this guy knows the real deal.
Now that is rare in my opinion. ::tu::

At $10,000 you can bet the likes of tommygg are starting up production, or at least trying to figure out how to make a zipper out of a clasp. If not already they soon will be. ::barf::

That is a great knife. 10K is not out line for that knife.
