Robeson 54 Jack Knife
The s/n on this one is 622054. It looks like the large jack knife listed in one of the Robeson catalog pages someone was kind enough to post on this forum.
The tang reads:
Robeson
Shuredge ( in script) Underlined almost gone can only see the ge on the end.
Rochester( barely able to make it out)
Should I sharpen this one up and carry it or put it away for safe keeping? I know it's not worth a lot of money.
Thanks, Steve

Re: Robeson 54 Jack Knife
I would suggest sharpening and carrying that knife and having the pleasure of packing a fine old Robeson.

Thanks Joe,
That's exactly what I'll do! I really like the bone on this one and enjoy carrying the old ones.

I've been collecting knives for quite a while, but the knives I enjoy the most are the ones I allow myself to carry and use.

I'm with Phil and Jo. Seeing as how it's already been used and has that nice patina, I'd pack it. you'll enjoy it a lot more that way.

Thanks philco & Colonel26. I didn't think it was a high end collector, just wanted to be sure.
I like to collect em and carry em at the same time, that way I get double the pleasure of owning em.
I'll get the Lansky set up and get started on it right away, cause it's dull as a butter knife right now.

Re: Robeson 54 Jack Knife
A nice honest old Robeson with great bone and a sabre-cut master spear.
What's not to like?
If it was mine, I'd carry and use it.
A similar knife was discussed a few days ago over at BladeForums.com.

If his knife had your handles or your knife his blades, yowza.

Thanks Charlie, I appreciate the info. It would be nice if the blades were a little better on mine, but I still like it.

Your knife has character and that's hard to come by.
