I've always equated them with fly fishing. Their fly rods are top shelf and expensive, especially their bamboo rods.

Nice knife jerry.jerryd6818 wrote:Not here yet so the pictures are those of the seller, I picked up this Camillus 72 that was made for Orvis in 1996. The handles are wood, it has a football shield stamped Orvis, it's serialized #303 and the blades are etched:

I'm disapointed that my 1980's 'Camillus 886 Uncle Henry' did not get a mention here, under "Show Us Your Camillus Knives!"

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
Thanks fellers. I'll try to get some better pictures in the next day or two.
Tommy -- I'm not very good at recognizing wood unless it's something really obvious like oak. It may be walnut or rosewood or cocobolo.
Maybe better pictures will help you decide.

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
I just got this TL-29 off of Ebay for $15 shipped, which arrived today. As someone who has never before owned the "original" TL-29 made by Camillus, but has owned the similar Colonial, all I can say is in every respect, the Camillus is much better. It's heavier, better built, the blades are thicker, the handles are made of better material, the "brass" parts are actually brass and not plated like on my Colonial. Except for some small scratches, and slight rusting of the screwdriver blade, it's in like new condition. Now to save up for the WWII issue with the Utica pliers and leather holster. Since my Colonial was carried in the coal mines for several years by my grandfather, I decided to get something that I had no emotional attachment to that I wouldn't mind as much getting lost or broken. I'm sure this Camillus will last more than my lifetime, as it's so well built.
It is the version with the "script" blade stamp.

Cody those Camillus electricians knives were real beasts! Right handy too to have one about when you're working.

Here are the pair together. Some subtle differences between 'em.

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
Just acquired this #23. It's a big ole' Hoosier. Way too big and heavy for me to carry. The pull is very nearly in the nail breaker class but ya gotta love those half-stops on both blades. I'm giving some consideration to having it rehandled.

That's my kind of knife right there! Right size and I like those hard springs. Just sort of tear your fingernail off is just right.
