Congratulations Tommy. It's a great moment when you find a cherished item you lost so long ago you have come to believe you will never see it again.

What's a 72 look like? I have a 2, 94, and a Lever Lock (Personal Favorite). I don't even collect knives, I inherited them all from my Dad who was a huge collector, I have to admit that I am taking a real liking to the Camillus knives the best. I could care less about these Bucks I have, damn things are plain. The Camillus's Knives are sharp looking no pun intended and lock tight, just quality craftsmanship.

I lost an 1843C $2.50 Gold Piece for 2 years, thought it was stolen, when I sold my Safe for an upgrade, I found it laying in a Capital Holder on the floor behind the safe. It must of slid back off the top of the safe when I stacked stuff up to put them away and down the back, there it sat for years. I was so happy when I found it..

Camillus #72 was made from 1946 until the factory closed it's doors in 2007. For the first couple of decades it was listed in the Camillus catalogs as a "Carpenter's and Whittler's" knife. Sometime in the early '70s the "Carpenter's" was dropped and it was simply called a "Whittler" until Camilus went out of business.

The knife is 3-5/8" long closed and has a clip main blade sitting beside a coping blade. At the other end is a small clip blade. The handles are Delrin®.

This one was made from sometime around 1989 or 1990 until about 2004.

Carrmillus - I know the feeling of finding an old friend again! I have had a couple that I thought were gone forever. And a few others that really were gone forever ...

And one of the ones that I thought was a goner was in my recliner: just like yours!

Awesome! I hope I know how you feel some day. I have a big ol Linder fixed blade somewhere that has never been out of the house. Sure wish I could find it.

I had an Opinel, probably ten years ago or maybe more and don't remember what I did with it. I don't recall giving it away and if I did I don't recall to whom. There's this huge gap in my memory. I remember buying it. I remember having it and now I don't have it. Or at least, if I do, I can't find it. I try not to think about it too much because when I do, it drives me crazier than I already am.

Gorgeous! I have decided to keep the Camillus and Gerber's in the collection. I don't have a 72 but want one now. I would trade any of my Bucks for one, I don't have much love for those.

Found this one on the eBay
