I am Cody from southwestern Virginia. I am 18.

I think I was about 9 or ten when I got my first knife, an old beat-up Old Timer from my Granddad. Then came a bunch of various other knives, mostly inexpensive Schrades and Coasts from the local Farm Bureau, mixed in with several more old Colonials and Imperials my grandfather gave me. My grandmother, who I'd call slightly overbearing, hid many of those early knives, and I've only found a few of them. When I was 10, I headed with my grandparents to the only knife store in my area to buy a knife. I picked out a Victorinox Fieldmaster, which is one of the knives I still carry eight years later, and like most it is missing the original toothpick and tweezers (a dollar store knife supplied the set I'm on now).

I've got a small collection, of roughly a dozen. I've got several more, but those are the ones my grandmother hid over the years.

My smallest knife is one of those short-lived micro sized Rough Riders knives with a blade that isn't even an inch long, and my largest is a poor condition WWII-era US Navy knife fixed blade with a roughly ten inch blade (that my grandmother hid, and I was 16 when I found the knife in a shed!).

These days, I mostly collect US made knives from companies such as Imperial and Colonial. One of my favorite past-times is buying a rusty old knife that doesn't even open for cheap, then spending the afternoon de-rusting and getting the blades to open.

My everyday carry knives are a Colonial scout-style knife, a Colonial Electrician's knife, a 1980s Irish-made Imperial Leatherman-style tool with nylon sheath, and the Victorinox Fieldmaster I mentioned earlier. I usually alternate between them, depending on what I'm doing.

Welcome to AAPK. Glad to have you aboard. Those old Imperials and Colonials sure have some fine steel in them. Priced as and considered a "cheap" knife when they sold, today they make an excellent carry.

Imperial learned how to make an inexpensive knife, but they made them well.
They are good carry knives.

Those old Imperial's and Colonial's are great knives with great steel.

One of my first was a colonial (given to me by my grandad) and I have a few others handed down by my granddads.

I have one that I have since put bone covers on as well. I'll post a pic of it for you.
