An aluminum framed stag handled Imperial barlow

Post by #goldpan »

Well I've been playing with my knives again! This time I decided to try making an integral bolster liner barlow out of aluminum. For a blade donor I chose a older Imperial barlow.

Here is the Imperial and the integral aluminum bolster liners. Notice that the liners have oak handles. We as luck would have it the oak split so I replaced it with some antler that a friend gave me.

I choose the inner cuts for this practice project. ( I have three new Imperial barlows in the box for later ) What I did not know is the antler was dry and almost chalky. Lesson learned here! I am gonna stabilize the remaining antler before using it. Anyway here it is. In the background is the Queen barlow that I put antler on a couple of days ago. I used it as the model for this one.

You know what they say, practice makes perfect! Well I got some practice on this one! Another good user for the EDC pile. Wait till I get good enough to break those new Imperials out!
