New member in Sparks, Nevada

Post by SamM »

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'd like to introduce myself - my name is Sam and I just happen to have become a knife collector recently.

Long story short, my dad passed in 2011 and left me a small collection of about 120 knives. He focused on Case (my personal favorite) but he picked up some nice examples of Empire, Cattaraugus, Ka-Bar, Miller Brothers and Russell knives as well as some older German and English knives. I also received about half a dozen fruit knives that appear to date to the turn of the 20th century.

There is one small problem - my dad didn't keep records of what was what. As a result, I have more than a few knives I know nothing about and I need some help figuring them out. I've started tagging the ones I've identified but, if it's okay, I'd like to post pictures on a fairly regular basis to draw on more experienced members knowledge to try and figure out what some of these are.

I've been poking around the site for a couple weeks and the information here has been tremendously helpful, hopefully I can contribute to it as I learn more.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! :D

I expect to have a photo or two posted this evening - a MOP Case with two different tang stamps (one from 1914-1920 and the other from 1905-1920), probably not a good sign but interesting. The other one is a Seneca I know nothing about but seems like a very well-made knife.
