Looks sleek and solid Jerry - nice Buck! OH

Thanks Colonel. That style is not for everyone but for some reason, they sure appeal to me.

Nice knife, Jerry; the blade on that one made me think of the first knife I ever owned that I had as anything more than a well-loved tool. My son had it engraved and sent it to me back in 2006 or 2007. Muskrat Man sent me some bolt-on bone slabs for it. It is an Alpha, and is my most treasured-knife, for obvious reasons. I never carry it; it is a safe queen.

Here are a couple, a stag 119 and 120. Sadly, they must go, so inquiries are welcome.

Got a long pull 309 Companion coming.. I bought one of these in JR High and carried it for a long time.. In HS, the teachers knew I had it and kept it really sharp.. When a sharp knife was needed I would get the call!!
Fast forward many yrs later.. Was coming back from Ill with a friend in his Corvette when we had starter trouble.. Needed to jump the starter and not having any tools with us (Chevys don't break down) out came the 309 master blade and across the terminals it went.. Well.. You know the outcome of that but at least we were back on the road.. Did a little regrind on the tip and carried it for a few more yrs till finally retiring it.. Do still have it though!!
So this will be a 2nd to the original and will see some edc time!! John

Camillus made Buck 311 Trapper, obtained in excellent condition at the local swap meet.
Why? I like Camillus-made Bucks for one thing, and have a couple of Camillus-made 313's also, so that's one reason, (one of those I've had since 1971).
Plus, I had a similar era 311 stolen years ago and wanted a replacement from the same era.
I also like the slim design of this knife compared to other Trappers.

Another vintage 300 series joins the family today, plus a 1998 450 protege. I still need to scour 300buck's fabulous database for the exact date & origins of the 307 Wrangler, but I would venture an early guess that it is Camillus-made. I won't tell you what I paid for these used but very usable knives because you'd be jealous. Just know I got them CHEAP!!
Both are in "very good" used condition, with tight blades, no chips or gouges in either blades or handles, and they both walk & talk like any US-made Buck should, (neither require a sharpening). In fact I like them both so much they will be added to my EDC rotation immediately.
And the search for one of each US-made Buck 300 series continues.

Thanks, this is my first and only 307 Wrangler. I like 4" pocket knives in general, and have a bunch of trappers to prove it, but this is my first 4" "Stockman" frame knife. I've evicted a Steel Warrior Trapper from it's sheath, (a Gerber sheath), so I can carry this one on my belt. I think the sheath was uncomfortable having a foreign knife inside of it, so now it has a fellow citizen to hang with.garddogg56 wrote:Very nice Bay KeepI have yet to get a 307

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?
Here is the 301 I was waiting for, (it arrived today), that I mentioned in my post above. It is in good condition, with tight blades, just a few nicks from pocket wear on the handles, and no surprises. The blades were a bit dull, but a few minutes with my stone & strop after cleaning and it took an edge nicely. From what I could glean from 300buck's database this is a Camillus-made Buck, manufactured between 1971-1974. The indicators were the model number on the "pile" side of the master blade, lack of handle pins, a Camillus "profile" of the master blade, and the fact that this knife, and also the 307 I pictured above, both have carbon springs. Notice photo #3 of both below, you can see staining on the carbon springs, and both had actual red rust growing on the springs inside, (removed in cleaning). According to 300bucks on the 301 thread, that dates both of these knives to pre-1980 when they started using SS springs.
Maybe the best thing about this knife was the fact that I got it for just over $7 delivered. For the week that got me the 301, the 307, and the 450 all for under $25 total. Not a bad week on the bay!

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?
I needed a pre-date code Buck 119 with the flap sheath to go with the rest - bought this one off e-bay over the weekend. Has some very light scratching near the blade edge (that I could polish out), but it's whole and in excellent shape - mint sheath. OH
