Questionable eBay dealers

I'm a relative newbie to the knife collecting world, and I was wondering if we have, or could create a listing of questionable ebay knife sellers? I know that there can thin ice in branding someone as disreputable, but the list could be worded carefully. Thanks

We've had several discussions about that...but, so far, most of us feel there is enough risk to make the idea of a published list undesireable. We do discuss individual listings, or repeat listings of questionable nature, especially here in the Counterfeit Forum, and by Private Message or email.

There have several posts on this very subject. Some think it's a liability issue, while others believe it would be unfair (a person has a minor dispute and suddenly that seller/buyer is a thief and liar!) We're all over the place on this one.

The range of “trouble” one has in trading is so broad, who is going to determine minor and major issues? Also, there is no recourse for the accused, (unless he/she happens to be a member.)

I think it’s the general consensus to ask questions and/or create a post on a particular item your watching and get some feedback. JMO

Welcome to AAPK. I would never recommend that a forum or website keep a list of reputable or disreputable knife sellers. Basically you're right, we would be on REAL THIN ICE by doing so. Since all the sellers discussed have over a 90% rating, really 98% rating, it would be hard to justify and brings forth a lot of legal issue's I know Bryan does not want. (To many are scared to leave honest negative feedback when it is deserved, the fear of retribution). It is up to each individual to keep your own lists, I have mine and a lot of blocked sellers on ebay. Downside is, I see knives I REALLY want and I will buy from a seller who has had issues in the past and I've had no problems, yet.

We just can't put labels on every seller (in print anyway ).

If AAPK or another forum kept such a list, they would not be regarded as a credable resource, we want to keep that. Remember, what you put in print in a public forum, you are 100% responsible for what you say, and Bryan (AAPK) is protected by last years Supreme Court ruling regarding slanderous comments. Always express yourself as an opinion, not this is fact unless you know you can back it up.

You can always ask about a knife here, in the knife related Q & A and you can bet someone will usually answer within 24 hours. My experience is that if you don't get answer in 24 hours, the right person with the answer has not seen the question yet, you're not being ignored.
