I've got this nice ww2 tl29 that is in my pocket everyday. I've got this chip I noticed the other day. Any idea how I can fix this & not take away value? I'm thinking about retiring it but it's been w me so long, kinda attached to it.

You have several options, one being leave it alone, some collectors like it "as found". It's pretty hard if not impossible to hide a chip unless you have the missing piece, then you could carefully super glue it back in place. You also can use epoxy with some dye and fill it in, but it will always show that you repaired it. If you decide to use the epoxy, you can put tape on it to act as a border. Hope this helps it looks like a nice old vintage knife. terry

If it were mine I would probably smooth down the rough edges with 800 or 1000 grit sandpaper and keep using it if there is no evidence of a crack running further down into the handle.
It becomes part of the history of the knife that just adds to its personality and character.

Use it and enjoy it, it was made to be used and I think that is when a knife is happiest; when it is working and doing what it was built to do!
