Thanks for the kind words on the group shot Colonel! ::handshake::

Monk, that's a fine looking piece of roadkill there... that rack is tall and symmetrical, he would have been even more impressive next year. He's certainly not the first or the last buck to meet his end while in hot pursuit of a hot doe!

Rofl! I remind my high school boys of that every deer season when they come in talking about the deer they killed.

I don't know if this is a hunting picture or a football picture - but as a man of my word I wore this silly, silly hat while bird hunting this week to pay off my losing bet! OH

Another successful mission was had this weekend.

Me and my grandsons spent the night at Starkey Park. Today while eating our hobo meal breakfast, the oldest (6) said....."I wish we could stay here every day Poppy." I replied....me too buddy.

You and I know that would last for about 3 days and then he'd be begging for a tv.....but it was the outdoor spirit shining through at that moment. I'm hoping I can do a good enough job for the outdoor spirit to take permanent roots in his inner being like my dad did with us kids!

Deer season is still is still going on in west Florida. The rut is in high gear! Some of y'all probably remember that I'm not a trophy hunter but a meat hunter, that being said, if the buck is legal, on our farm, he's liable to end up in the freezer. Having missed all of December and most of January hunting because of hip replacement surgery, the doc said I could get back in the woods on Jan 30. It took a week to kill a buck, didn't go every day, but on Friday afternoon, Feb. 6th, I was blessed to see a 3 point runnin' some does around the food plot and in the planted pines. He now resides in the cooler :) . This morning another buck was chasin' does, he was not considered a legal buck in our zone, so he's still ramblin' in the woods. He would have been legal for a youth under 15 to kill, being a spike.
Here's a couple of pictures of what's going on our place. I haven't even been to the lease property this year :( , maybe we'll try it one afternoon.

The food plot was so wet, had to carry him out on the tractor. He'll eat good!

Thanks for the kind words ::handshake:: ! It's such a blessing to be able to walk without pain and it is great to be able to be in the woods again! Missing about 8 weeks of hunting season was as bad as not being able to garden last summer when we did the knee surgery :( .

Now if I just had one new shoulder I'd be half a man  ! "Old and wore out" is the legal description, cause of condition can be contributed to "being rode hard and put up wet", state of mind is, "Thankful to the Lord for his healing power!"
