what is the rarest case knife you have??

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Tested 45 LP's.

Not sure which would be less common. The 6345 bomb shield, or 6245 with spear. ::shrug::

Great looking knives there, Ralph & Jethro. Rare knives not often seen.

I will post another 45 pattern I have had for several years. A CASE BRADFORD in Rogers Bone.
Thanks for looking.

I just purchased a Case swing guard lockback, USA and when I got home and looked a little closer, it said 61111 1/2 on the tang instead of 6111 1/2. That was a nice supprise. According to Sargent's and Steves books I hit a home run without even knowing it. I'll try to post some pictures but my camera and old dial-up computer fight me on those pictures. ____Dave

I'll try a picture of my new Case USA 61111 1/2 bone swing-guard. The second knife is a Robeson Daddy Barlow that tagged along for the ride.

Great swing guard DJ! Great 45s also Gents. Great large coke Jerry!

Here is my grand enchilada of rare CASE knives. Posted elsewhere several times but fits here in this thread for sure.

CASE 1970' 10 dot 5111-1/2 LSSP "True Cheetah" Prototype. 1 of ~24 made according to my research. Some of the best stag I have seen on the only 3 knives I have observed. Love that knife but might be tempted to pass her on if someone came up with 5 or 6 grand.

Beautiful knives fellas ::tu:: There sure are some rare birds flying around this thread. Great photography too…
I haven't been on AAPK much in the past year due to time restraints and a new drum set ::super_happy:: I have had this one for a little while now but never got around to showing it off … DINO… You might have been able to talk me out of this one… Where ya been? Anyway I thought I should show it off while I am still the owner of it and have posession. My pictures pale in comparison to the beauties you guys take but oh well, I've seen worse I suppose. I wish this one was closed to near mint but both blades walk and talk and there are no chips or cracks in the bone handles. Case XX 6254 Trapper Tested Frame Sporting Early Rogers Bone ::teary_eyes::

Thanks Tom. It's a nice old knife but it's nowhere near mint. Jerry's got a nicer one that he posted somewhere near the beginning of this thread, if you want to see another one. I think his may be from Tested era, whereas mine is Bradford.

Thanks Larry, I hope you get it and for a price you're happy with. WOW! WOW! That pair with super rare Winterbottom are AWEsome. It looks like they were made on the same day by the same guy… Jaw dropping ::tu::
Mumblypeg that Bradford trifold with big beautiful slabs of Rodgers bone having the special fixed blade Rogers groove jigging is one of those knives that you may have heard about but end up equating it as mythical. And when you see it, It even has a sort of dreamy angelic glow to it like how you would imagine Excaliber would look…Wowie I'm sure it's even better in hand… Nice ones Fellas

Thanks DJ - "dreamy angelic glow"? I didn't think my photography was ThAT bad! I know what you mean about Excaliber though. Every time I hold it I'm scared its gonna jump back into a rock somewhere and I'll never see it again. ::woot::

Welcome back DJ, beautiful trapper! Great Winterbottoms Larry, rare handles on a herd to find old pattern!

Great old Tri-Fold Ken! Not like I am an expert but I have searched the web quite abit and I have only seen 4 examples. One took an unfortunate salt bath in Katrina if I recall. I think all 4 were posted here. What a simplistic and ingenious design. No backspring to break. One of those knives that you marvel at in hand. At least I do.

Great finds Guys.

Regards, Jerry

Thanks Jerry. The 6001 is certainly a rare knife, and a very practical one also, once you understand how it works. Although rarely seen I've got to think there's a few more of them lurking around out there somewhere, waiting to be discovered. I'm proud to be the caretaker of this one for a while anyway, until one of my sons ends up with it next.

Don't know how rare this rat is, but must be somewhat rare since it is the only one I've ever seen and can find no reference to it. I bought it at one of the Johnny Fain auctions. The knife is a mess, having had one of the blades reprofiled and was probably rehandled by Johnny Fain. The blades were really abused through neglect. 1985 CASE "Johnny Muskrat".

Tom, I've heard of the Johnny Muskrat before but never seen one so at least from my viewpoint, it's rare enough. ::nod:: Of course I don't keep up that much with the " newer" Case stuff. Shame it's been altered - I'd like to see a straight one.

Gino, that Crandall has beautiful stag, and with long pull to boot. ::tu:: Nice old rarely seen knife.

Thank you both for showing them.

I have shown this a few times in the forums. Tuna Valley Cutlery, ordered from Germany for the Platts brothers during the formation of Case & Sons. Some say the rarest Case tang stamp. There were only 600 ordered, and less than a dozen are known to still exist.
