1. hey roger, are my old eyes bent or is the tang stamp (case) similar to the lettering on the shields? maybe a way to date?

i sometimes come across wrong because i don't think before i spout my opinions 
and you're right, the damage is done. i have a high regard for jp's work. i also think he made some mistakes. and those mistakes have been compounded. jmo. (no offenct intended to anyone)
