Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Nice stuff gents - I love old thrift shops, pawn shops, gun shops, junk stores - never know what you will find. Those two Case knives I showed above were NOS in a pawn shop and bargain priced (not steals by any means, but well under the usual e-bay pricing for sure). Today I went in a junk store and they truly had JUNK - overpriced so high I was snickering to myself - but a very nice old lady was running the place, very friendly and helpful, but unreal high prices - I just had to say thank you Ma'am and walk out empty handed. You just never know what you will find - nice red scroll Jody and that script Peanut is the best use of Case script I've seen Magoo - nice! OH

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
OH, you got it right. This was not a typical find.
They had the usual junk in a display, I asked the lady
at the counter if that was all the knives they had.
At first, she said yes, but then said wait! She took a
brass vase down off a shelf behind her, and the case
was in there. I always ask, learned to years ago at
a yard sale. In fact, except for one yard sale, all of my
good knife scores were a result of asking.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Finally something a little older than the 90's for me
My latest two knives are 1973's and if you have seen some of my older post you know that I have been buying newer knives so I'm sort of proud of these even though I know they are not really expensive knives. I traded a 100rd box of 40cal ammo for the Whitler
I am also working on my photographing skills and I have to tell you guys I am impressed by the quality pictures you get because I have found it's not easy getting quality pictures.
1st one is 1973 Half Congress which is in really good condition and 2nd one is a 1973 with some patina (hope that's spelled correctly?)

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Slomo - nice Case knives - and an even better trade (I noticed at the gun show a few weeks back that popular pistol ammo is dropping in price again). Makes the deal even better! OH

Sweet looking jack, jdub.
Is that a -31 1/2 or a -35 pattern? Gorgeous bone on that one.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Great knife. Any Jack knife fan such as myself loves a 31. Probably the most stout snap on any CASE pattern in my opinion. Great frame shape and long pull, can't beat it. Built like tanks. A 1976' 2231-1/2SAB (marked 31SAB) in my pocket right now.Jdub wrote:It is a 31, they are super carry knives.this one has that real hard snap that most 31's have.1967redrider wrote:Sweet looking jack, jdub.Is that a -31 1/2 or a -35 pattern? I had a flat blade USA 6231-1/2 (see pics) that I gifted to a friend/AAPK member. What a beautiful bone MINT knife and the hardest snap of any CASE I have handled. The king of snap. Action was as smooth as silk. But hold the frame with the same pressure in your hand as another 31 as you moved the mainblade from half stop to full open, that knife would catapult out of your hand. Snap was that hard. Never happened to me but almost a couple of times as I was not expecting it.
Regards, Jerry

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
I went fishing and this is what I found. I bought them from a Facebook knife trader group (not ebay) and I don't have them yet therefore not the greatest pictures but I will update once I can take my own pictures.
