Tweedale's Directory of Sheffield Cutlery Manufacturers does not have a listing for them.

Re: Beyer Bros. Sheffield
Looks like an honest old knife. I couldn't find anything in any of my reference books, but did find a post in iknifecollector forum from last September where someone else was asking for info on this maker. If I knew how to cut and paste on this *#%+* iPad I would post the link to it. No one on that forum was able to provide any info so about all you can assume from it is more of their knives exist.

From iKnifeCollector.com, September, 2014.

The reference to an old Ebay auction for a sleeveboard knife might be referring to the same knife that's listed now.
It's an obscure stamp for sure.

Re: Beyer Bros. Sheffield
Geoffrey Tweedale doesn't have any information on them and neither does anyone else I can find. It may have been a VERY short lived endeavour. There was a lot of competition in Sheffield and if they bought their first batch of materials and didn't turn a profit that was the end of it if they ran out of capital.
Has anyone found any other knives besides this one?

I did find that beyers bros took out patents in great britton. the year was 1875. It was for a better soap squeezer. What that is I have no idea.

Re: Beyer Bros. Sheffield
Maybe someone should think about buying that knife......................
On a cautionary note; How high is the possibility that the knife was made in Germany and fraudulently stamped with an English sounding mark to take advantage of Sheffield cutlery's popularity?

Re: Beyer Bros. Sheffield
This discussion has, I think, gotten to the point that we should have some photos of this circa 1870's knife from a company of which, apparently, no known knife historian has ever heard.
It's relatively small knife at 3 1/2".
Here are the auction photos:

Re: Beyer Bros. Sheffield
Charlie, if those are steel pivot pins it's most likely German manufactured.

Eric, I noticed the pins when I posted the photos and I agree it's suggestive, but not definitive.
