I have a feeling, I have a gut connection with this knife. It needs me to restore it back to its original days sitting on a shelf somewhere waiting for a new owner to walk up and say " may I ask how much you are asking for the pruner?" If that is what it was called in those days.
Seems to be allot of pruners produced back in the day.
I graft trees. I trim trees. I chop trees to the ground and never go looking for this style blade.
I would love to know what the big demand was.
Anyway I will try to fix the stag crack. Help needed there.
I will then build a frame and add on a new blade and keep the bolsters.
Just makes me feel good.
Might not be agreed upon by the knife patina Gods but I beg for their understanding in this build.

around here....they were and still are used A LOT...... for "PICKING" by PICKERS, fruit or vegetables.......
especially GRAPES, KIWI , AVOCADO , ORANGES , LETTUCE , ETC. in my area.
most orange pickers have switched to the lil plier type SNIPS ........ but not all

Interesting, I grow avocados as well and never thought about that use. Now that you bring it up I will try it. At times the stems are difficult to remove from the fruit so that blade design might work.junebug wrote:cool , gary!!!

just cuz were jawin about pruners 
..............
i was taught to use a PRUNER different than most knives
in hand: up side down.....thumb in pruner style thumb choil....fruit in left hand......make pull cuts .
this was for pickin fruit ^^^^
i gotta admit...the plier type snips with leather finger guards are best IMPO, ESPECIALLY W/ ORANGES

If you need a blade Tina Germany is one of the few companies I know about still making big pruners. You may find one used with a decent blade still left:
