Any idea what the large chunk of metal at the bottom of the sheath is for? Is it sharp enough to be a small hatchet?

It is a hatchet and it is extremely sharp at that, it can slice paper like a razor.

The knife also has a saw back edge that is extremely sharp, it is a combination set knife/axe/saw all in one! I imagine it had a nice leather belt sheath originally but it is AWOL now

I didn't know whether to post these here or start a separate thread so here they are. They are made by various companies;the knife on the card is made by Empire Plastic Corp.(probably no relation to the Empire Knife Co);the 5 knives are made by a company called,"Wannatoy" and the knife/axe set and the black handled knife are unmarked.The black handle is a "slider" in that the blade is spring loaded open and when pushed against something retracts into the handle giving the appearance of penetration.
I have posted these others before but decided to include them here.
The Miss Army knife is an actual knife but with accessories designed for women.The Space 1999 multiblade is all plastic.The Peter Pan toy is????? The Swiss Bubble toy is different.

I actually found a couple narcotic pills in one of the pill bottles!

I thought they were pretty neat myself Joe. I had originally bought the Miss Army Knife for my wife as she likes things that are pink.She has a pink Spyderco Delica she bought when they first came out and carries it in her purse every day.She elected to leave the MAK in it's original packaging.I found another one sans packing and that is in my collection.She also has a couple of pink multi-tools that she carries as well.I have suggested she get a two wheeler to haul around her purse.
The knife/axe combination is my favorite.

Looks like a pin-fired revolver, so I'm thinking French or Belgian. But, could it possibly be English?

Ray, I'm not sure the revolver you showed is a pin-fire. Looks like a center or rim fire to me.

I think the calibers in these might be in millimeters, unless they are English.

I do not know anything about that piece except I happen to have the photograph.

I have a friend that owns a beautiful Bowie knife, from the Bowie time period, that has an ivory handle and a built in pistol, very similar to this one.

Looks every bit as nice as the one above.

Far be from me to question the all-knowing Dimitri (tongue firmly planted in cheek)

But .. ... .. ... ..

It appears as though the 'deer foot' is the trigger guard /slash/ blade hilt.
Notice the near identical piece on top of the barrel, shorter and turned the opposite direction.
These two pieces would make for the blade hilt.
I submit that the ring is the trigger. The lower deer foot is too far forward to be a trigger.

Pure speculation on my part .. ... ..

At first I thought the ring was to turn the cylinder, but now I think the deer's lower leg and hoof are too far forward to be a trigger.
There is a matching leg on top, but they appear to be hinged and foldable.

The ring appears to be the trigger and I believe the upper and lower deer legs act as finger guards when it is used as a sword.JMHO

Robeson late 40's and 50's wood handled knives utilized a laminated wood and phenolic resin material some people know as Pakka Wood.

Robeson called it, "ShurWood".

They even built a separate facity for the manufacture of ShurWood and ShurWood products.

They made knife racks for kitchen cutlery, etc.

These two items showed up on Ebay today, made of ShurWood in Perry, New York.

Not knife related, but part of The Robeson Cutlery Company.
