You know I am not a case expert but that knife looks OK to me.
Even the shield looks good to me for the time frame. I have seen several knives like this one that have a good deal of blade loss.
Those handles look legit though worn to me also. The knives I have seen in this condition though don't seem to bring a lot of money even though they have been cleaned.
Kind of like they don't fit what the collectors are looking for as even though they have been cleaned they still show that they have had heavy use. JMO

That knife has been more than just "cleaned". The smaller blades are half gone, the 2 larger blades have considerable wear also. The bone handles have been buffed flat. The bolsters are shaped wrong, should have square corners, not round. Lots of buffing compound went into this one.

Re: eBay knife
I think that the seller has the knife described properly...there is blade loss and it has been buffed. And it is odd that the handles are pocket worn smooth but the shield is not - and the seller points this out. The shield could be a replacement, looks like an authentic Case shield though.Forensic Jim wrote:Any thoughts on this one? eBay number 330161144326.
Also looks like the seller's Ebay name is the same as Jim's store name...a coincidence?

eBay knife
This is the very first knife I bought off of fleabay. Didn't know the first thing about knives and fell for a very bad photo, and a description that left a lot to be desired. Paid way too much for it, and didn't know how bad I was taken until I took it to the local knife club. After that, I bought as many knife books as I could, and tried to educate myself, so this would never happen again. I've seen the sellers name come up here a time or two, and I won't buy from him again. I would never try to swindle a person as he did, and I tried to be as concise as I could in the listing, knowing that it will affect the sale. But honesty is the best thing a person can have. Even if it sells for $10.00, and they don't like it, they can send it back.
