That does not look like a factory job. someone probably did that with a dremel with an abrasive cutoff wheel.

Kinda what I was thinking too, Dimitri. Reckon why someone would do that to a nice old knife??

Do the cuts have a bevel on either blade? I could see a purpose as a wire stripper, depending on how old that knife is, electrical wire probably had a totally different insulation than we are familiar with . May have been modified for such a purpose.

You really can't tell from the seller's pics, but I just recently saw a pic of a knife that was referred to as a lineman's/electrician's knife that was an swell end EO jack like this one, no screw-driver blade, just a master and a secondary. I'll probably go ahead and try to buy it.

Not sure what's going on there but it doesn't look normal or right. Would like to see what it looks like closed. Seems like a lot of blade for the frame.

Reminded me of this knife I saw on the bay recently.

You are correct, the master does sit a little proud

I have never seen that severe a cut on a factory knife.
It looks like someone got carried away with the triangle file and cut it way too deep.
It is so deep I would be afraid it might have weakened the blade.

I am reasonably certain the knife didn't leave the factory in that condition.

Here are two Miller Bros. knives of this EO pattern. Choil could have been cut deep for stripping wire??

If the spring is slightly recessed on that proud master blade in the closed position, it could just be a sign of tang and spring wear.
