New Member: First of Many Questions!

Post by JFZ59 »

First of all, I would like to say hello to the forum. Now why I am here...
My dear grandfather would never leave the house without his yellow pocket knife on him. For as long as I could remember you could be sure that the "old man" had that knife in his pocket. If an apple had to be cut...there was Grandpa. If a string had to be cut...there was granda. Now I think back and not only wish that Grandpa was still with us but I wish that I would have made sure that the knife was secured. Fast forward 30 years...Now I will be a Grandpa in a few years and I want to find a similar knife to give to my son.
I have spent a little time on your forum and this is the best I can come up with. The knife seemed to have the shape of an Eisenhower since it was symmetric. It had a larger blade on one end and a smaller blade on the other. The handle was yellow and it was attached to a gold chain which he used to snap on a belt loop. The knife was not bulky but streamline and the main blade was prob. about 2 inches long. The entire knife was about 2 1/2 to 3 inches in length (closed)
Thanks
Doc J.

Sounds like a pen knife.

Could this be similar to what you are talking about?

Thanks for your quick response.

I saw that knife on some of the seller sites.

Grandads knife did not have any curvature in the handle. The top edge and bottom edge was straight and the ends were identical in size.

But that was the color of the handle...that pale yellow.

I have a Case with a shackle...but it isn't yellow. ::shrug::

Maybe this is the style, if not the shape?

Hey Thanks To All.

El Lobo: This is like looking at too many mug shots and not remembering what the bad guy looks like! Now I can't remember if the knife had an Eisenhower shape or a shape like in the picture...but for some reason I keep going back to the Ike shape.

Jonet143: Please keep me in mind if you do come across something similar in your travels

Bighead: Where do I find that price guide?

The knife did have a bale on it!
